This is from a friend of mine

I found it helpful and I hope you do too....If you suffer from depression, have in the past or know a woman who does...pass this onto her.

Hi Ladies, I wanted to share with you the method of Interactive Breakthrough Prayers. These have helped me shake loose some "stuff" in my life, and I hope this method will be a blessing to you too! This is how it works. Get a notebook, journal, or even a simple piece of paper.

A pen, pencil, whatever works for you. Get your Bible. If you've never experienced Eugene Peterson's The Message Bible, please just go over to a Christian bookstore and take a peek at it! What a wonderful, easy to read, down to earth translation! But any Bible will do! Each day, you're going to write (in your own handwriting, no typing!) this prayer out in the notebook. The text is below.

In the text, you will see numbers after some sentences. The numbers refer to a specific passage in the Bible. This particular prayer for depression has 19 references, so you're going to write out this prayer 19 days in a row, focusing on one specific passage each day.

1. Psalms 130:1 2. Psalms 130:2 3. Psalms 130:5 4. Psalms 40:2 5. Psalms 3:3-4 6. Psalms 22:1 7. Psalms 70:5 8. Psalms 51:12 9. Nehemiah 8:10 10. Psalms 142:7 11. Lamentations 3:55 12. Psalms 71:5 13. Proverbs 3:5-6 14. Psalms 121:1 15. Psalms 141:8 16. Isaiah 41:10 17. John 16:20 18. Hebrews 11:1 19. Colossians 1:13-14

After writing the prayer out and adding any personal petitions in the prayer, do a short study of the verse, and write out what God is saying to you in that verse as it applies to your specific issue. Ask these questions of yourself in relation to the specific verse ~

What is the promise from God in this verse?
What is the Timeless Principle in this verse?
What is the Command to Keep?
How does this verse apply to my life?

Some verses will have answers to ALL those questions, other verses will only answer 1 or 2 of the questions. Repeat this process every day until you have worked through all the verses (one a day) specified in the prayer.

Here is the prayer for Depression. Key Scripture ~ Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord" Psalm 130:1 Out of the depths I have cried unto you, O Lord God (1). Let your ears be attentive to my prayer (2). My soul waits for you, and in your Word I do hope (3). I come to you, Father God, in the wonderful name of my Lord Jesus Christ and I confess the depression that I am experiecing to you. By so doing, I am expressing my earnest desire to forsake it and to put it behind me forever. Thank you for lifting me from the miry clay of depression and setting my feet upon the solid confidence of your Word (4). Lord God, you are my glory, and the lifter of my head. As I cry unto you I know you are hearing me out of your holy hill (5). In my times of depression, I sometimes feel as if you have forsaken me, but I know this is not true (6). I am desperate and needy. Answer me quickly, O God (7). Restore unto me the joy of your salvation (8). In your joy I find my strength (9). Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise your name (10). I call upon your name Lord God, out of what seems to be a low dungeon to me (11). You are my hope, O Lord God, and you are my trust (12). Help me trust you with all of my heart, not leaning unto my own understanding. As I acknowledge you in all my ways, I know you will direct my paths (13). I lift my eyes unto the hills, realizing that my help comes from You, Father (14). Thank you for delivering me from all depression. I express faith to you that you will not leave my soul desolate (15). Through your grace, I will not fear, because I know you are with me, and I will not be dismayed, because you are my God (16). Turn my sorrow into joy, Father (17) as I hold on to the faith you've imparted to me, which is the substance of the things I hope for and the evidence of things I do not see (18). Father, thank you for lifting depression from me and delivering me from all the power of darkness and redeeming me through the blood of Jesus (19). AMEN!

This prayer and 119 others like it can be found in the book Breakthrough Prayers for Women. Check your local Christian bookstore or even online for a paperback copy. It has prayers for just about your every need! All prayers adapt to this method very well! It has truly been a blessing for me and greatly enriched my prayer and study life.
