Don't Settle For Mediocrity

From Morning Tea
"Woe to you who are complacent." Amos 6:1 NIV
When you get to the seventh church in Revelation, Jesus is standing outside it, knocking, trying to get in, and nobody seems to have missed Him! Does that shock you? It should! Listen to what He told them, "You are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm . . . I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16 NIV). Bottom-line -- don't settle for mediocrity!
Ponder these words by Wilbur Rees, "I'd like to buy $3 worth of God please. Not enough to awaken my soul or disturb my sleep, just enough to equal a cup of warm milk or a snooze in the sunshine. I want ecstasy not transformation; the warmth of the womb, not the new birth. I want a pound of the eternal in a paper sack. No, not the flesh and blood one, He'll keep me from my appointment with the hairdresser, or make me late for my cocktail party. I can't put up with wise men from Persia, or sweaty shepherds trampling all over my carpet with their muddy feet. My name isn't Mary. I don't want a living Christ -- I just want one I can keep in a crib."
Do you want to know the answer to complacency? Jesus gives it to you: "Be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in" (Revelation 3:19-20 NIV).
